Environment

At Fika Town we use Climate Compensated Paper. We use this Paper to offset the carbon emissions that occur during the production of the paper used from our Fika Town cards. This way we can give a little back to the environment, help keep the planet green and provide much needed assistance for poverty stricken areas.

Why do Something?

The forest has a very important role in our climate because it takes up a large part of all the carbon dioxide emitted to the atmosphere. Sweden has plenty of forest, a responsible forest industry and legislation for new plantings. But global warming is a global problem and one of the reasons is the deforestation taking place in many parts of the Third World. We choose am eco-friendly print partner in order to make sure we could give something back.

How we Contribute?

When we produce cards, estimates of carbon dioxide emissions from the production of our cards paper and transportation is made. We then pay a fee on top of the cost of the paper and transport to offset the price for all CO2 emissions. That additional money is then given directly to the aid program to help them grow new tree's and keep the carbon emissions down.

The Money Goes?

The money goes to the Plan Vivo projects where they carry out tree planting in Mozambique, which is one of the poorest countries in Africa. Plan Vivo is working in several third world countries as a successful system of self-help. The project in Mozambique is mainly focused on tree planting and cultivation of crops and forest areas. The aim is to develop a sustainable lifestyle, living standards and secure biodiversity locally.
